10 Unique Properties Bound to Give You Wanderlust

Cloudbeds works with some incredible properties all around the world. We’re constantly amazed at the creativity, attention to detail, commitment to the environment, and general wow factor that these properties create every day. From the top of a rock to the Carribean jungle to Gers in Mongolia, you probably won’t believe that some of these properties really exist.

While there are hundreds of properties we could have included, we chose 10 that caught our eye for one of several reasons. Some of them are located in far away places, while others are just too cool to pass up. See which properties made our list.

1. Isleta El Espino – Granada, Nicaragua


Tucked away on an island in Nicaragua, you’ll find Isleta El Espino, a resort style property that looks like a relaxation dream. This perfect getaway features unreal views, gorgeous pools, and rooms that look straight out of a magazine. Spend some time at the pool, in the spa, practicing yoga, or touring the local area. 2. Villa on Dunbar Rock – Honduras

Located in Honduras atop a rock, you’ll find the Villa on Dunbar Rock. The property literally sits on a rock in the middle of a reef where divers can see a diverse ecosystem of fish. I can honestly say I’ve never seen a property quite this unique before. If you’re an adventure seeker looking to soak in the sun, see some fish, and have killer Instagram photos, this is the place for you.

3. The Strand – Boracay Island Philippines

Located in gorgeous Boracay Island, Philippines, The Strand is a boutique resort that touts a beautiful property, delicious looking drinks, and relaxation at every turn. The property only accommodates 14 people at a time, which ensures that each guest receives personalized treatment. 4. Aliki Hotel – Greece


Sitting atop the Cliffs of Nikiana, Greece, you’ll hotel Aliki Hotel, a gorgeous four-star property boasting incredible views of the Mediterranean. 5. Waterland – Sri Lanka


A tropical Oasis in Sri Lanka sounds like a perfect getaway to us. Waterland is a property with four free-standing villas that each have their own pointed infinity pools. They’ve created the villas to make it feel like you’re immersed in the surrounding nature. They also have a restaurant on their property that mixes traditional Sri Lankan and Western flavors. 6. Herdade do Amarelo Nature & Spa – Portugal


Herdade do Amarelo is a romantic haven located in Portugal. This gorgeous resort is the essence of nature and beauty rolled into one amazing experience. They offer romantic getaways, full spa treatments, horse riding, guided tours and so much more. No matter what you do at this resort, they promise unforgettable experiences. 7. Train Lodge – Amsterdam, Netherlands


Train Lodge is an awesome hostel located in Amsterdam. They offer their guests the unique opportunity to stay in a converted train in one of the World’s most lively cities. The old train feels as if it’s parked in the station giving it an authentic feel. Train Lodge says they are perfect for solo travelers and groups and have several different room/compartment options.

 8. Three Camel Lodge – Mongolia

One of Cloudbeds newest and most unique properties, Three Camel Lodge, is in far away, less traveled, The Gobi, Mongolia. Three Camel Lodge is what they describe as “a luxurious take on the traditional nomadic lifestyle.” Guest stay in structures called Gers, which is a wooden structure covered with layers of felt and canvas (pictured above). Gers were traditionally used by herders as temporary housing to support the Mongolian nomadic lifestyle.

The lodge and the Gers were built with careful consideration of any environmental and cultural impacts. It is a unique experience sought after by all types of travelers both for personal and professional gain. Learn more about this incredible property here.

9. Terrasse Des Elephants – Cambodia


Terrasse des Elépahants is a decadent boutique hotel and restaurant located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The property was designed and built to create an authentic Angkor temple experience with Khmer hospitality. The property itself is extravagant and their rooms are filled with traditional Cambodian style and accents to create a lasting impression.

The property and pool allow guests to relax and unwind while still located in a bustling downtown filled with many activities.

10. Dominican Tree House Village – Dominican Republic


Have you ever wanted to stay in a real life tree house tucked away in the Carribean jungle? Same. This unique property has several cabins that are connected by rope bridges. The property gives their guests a true off the grid experience while supplying endless adventure. Some of their fun activities include horseback riding, ATV trips, zip lining, hiking, canyoneering, swimming under waterfalls and so much more.
