Casting a Wider Net: New OTAs to Join This Spring

By Alex Gaggioli, May 5, 2016

Introduction

Every season is an opportunity to serve more guests and increase your revenue. In today’s complicated world of various marketing channels, it’s easy to continue using the same marketing channels month after month. Thankfully, there’s also technology to manage all the booking channels in one place. Channel managers and property management systems make it easier than ever to add new channels to your marketing mix. Over time, every strategy needs to be adjusted.

Cloudbeds and strives to add the world’s most popular booking platforms to our channel manager myallocator  in order to give our clients the best marketing options. Here are a handful of the newest channels we’ve added just in time for (North American) Spring and Summer.

Bedandbreakfast.com

Bed-and-Breakfast

Cloudbeds recently added bedandbreakfast.com, bedandbreakfast.eu, and bedandbreakfast.nl. Bedandbreakfast.com is the most comprehensive global site for finding bed and breakfast properties. They have more than 12,000 properties worldwide, according to their press center. As the largest bed and breakfast website, they have more than 8,000 properties in the United States and 4,000+ abroad.

The platform is free for travelers and offers more than 215,000 reviews to help guide travelers’ decisions. If you are interested in learning more you can view their resource center here. This site is perfect for any size and type of bed and breakfast.

Atrapalo

Atrapalo

Atrapalo currently operates in 10 counties including Spain, Chile, Colombia, Perú, Panamá, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Argentina and Mexico. They are a Latin American focused OTA and now have more than 8 million registered users.

As an OTA, they support hotels, tickets, restaurants, activities, flights, cruise ships, and cars. They now have over one million reviews and offer discounts by up to 90%. If your property is located in or targets Latin America, Atrapalo is a great marketing channel to add to your mix.

If you are interested in listing your property on Atrapalo, you can find information here.

Dorms.com

Dorms.com

Dorms.com is a site to help travelers find the best hostels in cities around the world. They only allow hostels to sign up, and restrict hotels, bed and breakfasts, apartments, etc. from listing inventory. To date, they have sold more than one million beds worldwide. Cloudbeds alsopartners with www.hostales.com which is the Spanish version of dorms.com

If you are a hostel owner and interested in signing up, you can fill out the form here.

Despegar / Decolar

logo_despegar.com

Despegar, Spanish, and Decloar, Portuguese, are Latin America’s largest travel agencies. Since 1999, more than 2 million people have booked their travel through one of Decolar’s sites. With such a wide reach in Latin America, it is one of the best sites to sell your property’s rooms if you want to reach international travelers.

Decolar functions much like large OTAs such as Expedia and Priceline, meaning they work for almost any property type in locations across the United States. In addition to hotels, they sell car services, tours, tickets, bus passes, and more.

If your property is interested in listing on Decolar or Despegar, you can sign up here.

Rooms2Night

rooms2night

Rooms2Night is a booking application that was founded in 2015. They were built specifically for South and Central American independent hotels that aim to give travelers a local experience. While their headquarters are located in Miami, Florida, the site allows hotels and hostels in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Perú, Colombia, and Ecuador to showcase their properties.

If you manage an independent hotel or hostel in one of the countries listed above, Rooms2Night is likely a great option for you. You can learn more about joining their booking channel here.

Conclusion

Adapting to new market environments is essential to any businesses’ success. We live in an interesting time where the large OTA groups like Expedia and Priceline acquire smaller OTAs as soon as they become a viable threat. But, we also see smaller OTAs popping up that cater to more localized markets. This means that property owners must be aware of where their specific audience books travel, and be there to cater them.

These are just a select few of the many channels myallocator and all the Cloudbeds products connect to. You can see a complete list here.
