Hotel Las Cortes de Cádiz is a charming hotel full of history. Located in the city center of Cadiz, the property was formerly a palace built in the 19th century for the Marquis de la Cañada. Today it offers 33 refurbished rooms, an on-site restaurant cafe, and a rooftop bar to give guests a one-of-a-kind experience.
Alberto Lozano has 14 years of experience at the hotel and started as a receptionist before becoming Head of Reservations and E-Commerce.
When the hotel was closed due to the pandemic in 2020, Alberto took the opportunity to switch to a cloud-based hotel management system. Their previous system was on-premise, not integrated, and slowed down operations. He wanted one system to help manage the business. Plus, Alberto and his staff were working from home at the outset of the pandemic. They needed to be able to access the system anywhere, anytime. Though the hotel is fully open today, Alberto still works from home three days a week. He can manage the business with ease thanks to Cloudbeds’ cloud-based system.
Since switching to Cloudbeds, Alberto has found great success driving direct reservations with Cloudbeds’ commission-free booking engine. Currently, 50% of all reservations are direct bookings after steadily increasing this production over the past few years. Before Cloudbeds, the hotel was at 25-30% direct business.
By focusing on direct business, the hotel has saved money. Overall, they have reduced their reliance on OTAs by 22% and saved more than 10,000€ in commissions in 2021.
With Cloudbeds’ integration to Google Hotel Search, unlocked another direct booking feature to drive additional traffic to their website and booking engine. In December 2021, Google Hotel Search accounted for 20% of all reservations. Alberto says that he anticipates that this channel will only grow for him.
Alberto is looking to invest more in Google and has more budget thanks to Cloudbeds. With Cloudbeds’ single integrated platform, PMS, Booking Engine, and Channel Manager fully integrated, Alberto has reduced the possibility of overbooking to zero. They have saved money by eliminating these costly errors. They have redistributed the budget for staff and processes, saving money and allocating these economic sources to marketing operations.
With Cloudbeds, Alberto and his team save time entering reservations and avoid potential omissions and human mistakes. With the Cloudbeds’ channel manager and PMS fully integrated, his staff updates inventory in all booking channels at the same time simultaneously and automates the daily closing audit.
The hotel uses Cloudbeds Marketplace partner Chekin for guest check in. They no longer require staff to work nights because everything is automated. Police reports are automatic as well.
