In 2012, entrepreneur Edmund Lowman’s vacation to Thailand turned into a full-time job as a tour guide on an island tour boat. After a few months of working on the boat, the owner of the company asked Edmund if he was interested in acquiring a small hotel with them. However, after doing a bit of market research, Edmund realized that what the local area was really missing was a hostel. At the time, there was only one hostel in town and they were always extremely busy. Although he admittedly had little experience starting and operating a hostel, Edmund decided to jump in head-first.
Fast forward six years and now has Slumber Party Hostel has 3 properties with 240 beds in Phuket, Krabi, and Koh Phangan.
Their secret sauce is to cultivate a family atmosphere in all of their properties. As soon you walk, they promise you’ll feel at home. “People choose to stay with us because of our incredible parties, our epic tours and our unwavering commitment to the community.
With each new location, Slumber Party Hostel has implemented Cloudbeds and trained their staff. Edmund notes that in each of the implementations, it’s always been a very smooth and efficient process due to the simplicity of the software and the fantastic customer support. The Cloudbeds team is “always working tirelessly with us in order to ensure that the implementation goes properly. This is a departure from some of the previous systems that we worked with where we were just given a system, and thrown to the wolves to figure things out on our own.”
With the addition of Cloudbeds’ mobile-friendly booking engine, Slumber Party has seen an estimated 10-15% increase in direct bookings. Guests are able to book and pay seamlessly and securely. Because the booking engine is completely integrated with Cloudbeds’ PMS and channel manager, Edmund and his team never have to worry about overbookings when guests book directly.
Cloudbeds has helped each of Slumber Party’s hostels automate almost every aspect of their business. This includes everything from daily check-ins/outs, housekeeping, daily reports, and inventory management.
Edmund and his team heavily rely on Cloudbeds’ reports as a backbone of their business. On a daily basis, the team runs the revpar report, no show reports, guest checking in, guests checking out, and daily Financial reports.
Edmunds says that they have better inventory management and spend far less time spent updating their online channels. This means less stress and few missed bookings. With a seamless interface to manage bookings, online allotment on various OTA sites, and pricing on all platforms, the team at Slumber Party depends on Cloudbeds in all aspects of their daily operations.
