Richard Kessler is the Chairman and CEO of The Kessler Collection, a portfolio of grand bohemian luxury boutique hotels he has been building for over 50 years. A true visionary in independent luxury hospitality, Richard pioneered the boutique hotel concept before the term existed, curating properties that double as living art galleries and cultural destinations. He is perhaps best known for spearheading the $400M Plant Riverside District urban redevelopment project in Savannah, Georgia. His partnership with Marriott's Autograph Collection helped define the soft brand model for independent luxury hoteliers worldwide.

I decided, well, how are we gonna theme this one up? How are we going to make it come alive? And it dawned on me. I said, well, this was a fossil fuel plant. So that oh, okay. That’s my clue. Fossil fuels. So that means mastodons. That means all types of things. No way. And so what we ended up doing is make it made a natural science museum in the lobby of this power plant, which is the lobby of the hotel, And we carried that theme through the whole building and all the rooms and everything. And it we have more traffic now than the museum that’s been in Savannah for over a hundred years.
