Three years ago, Belén and her brother opened Gorilla Hostel in beautiful Mendoza, Argentina. As she puts it, she has continually been learning and improving ever since they purchased the 48-bed hostel. Guests love their hostel because Belen and her staff make every guest feel welcome. The hostel not only looks like a house but also has the warm feeling of a home. The staff encourages guests to explore the city and share meals. “We want everyone to have to be treated as a guest in our own home.”
A recent winner of Booking.com’s Guest Review Awards, Gorilla Hostel has become a favorite place to stay in Mendoza. Belen and her brother are looking to open a second location in Chile next year.
Prior to Cloudbeds, Belén was using Excel spreadsheets and manage reservations. After updating her spreadsheet, she had to manually update availability on five different listing websites and THEN alert her reservation receptionist. It was a painstakingly manual process that kept her up at night. As they started to grow, it became obvious that they needed a real property management solution. Although she was nervous about the switching costs and time investment, it turned out to be one of the best things they could have done.
Gorilla Hostel employs eight people who are now always up-to-date with one central system. Rates and availability are always updated and accurate across her various distribution channels, including their website which uses Cloudbeds’ booking engine. Belén estimates that Cloudbeds saves her at least 2 hours per day and has now returned to a normal sleep schedule.
Gorilla Hostel uses Cloudbeds’ comprehensive reporting to keep track of their property’s activities. Because everything is tracked within one system, they’re able to track all their financials, reservations, and other important information. They are most excited for the new stock and inventory module which just launched in Summer 2017. Belén likens Cloudbeds to having an extra person on their team, a person who knows their business inside and out.
