I’m very excited to introduce a highly requested feature from the Cloudbeds community: multi-currency cash payments. The Cloudbeds product and engineering team is working diligently to address our customers’ requests for a feature-rich, user-friendly solution. We are excited to share more important updates that tackle our users’ needs soon.
Let’s set the stage
Imagine you run a resort in Bali with a large Australian customer base. A guest arrives at your property after a long flight and you see in their guest notes that they prefer to pay in cash. The guest didn’t have an opportunity to exchange their currency prior to arrival and it’s your goal to offer each guest a smooth check-in.
Previously, your front desk agent needed to manually look up and calculate an accurate exchange rate – creating an awkward situation for your guest as they wait to check-in.
From now on, multi-currency eliminates the need to leave the Cloudbeds platform to calculate exchange rates. Your front desk staff can easily choose from a list of accepted currencies and our system will automatically calculate the guest’s total in Australian dollars and Indonesian rupiah. Making it easy for the front desk agent to give the guest a total, print a bill, and complete the check-in.
Exchange rates are a vital part of this update, and like everything else, we worked to make them easy and reliable. Choose the currencies you accept and the system will automatically update the exchange rates twice a day.
However, for advanced users who want more options, there is an option to manually update exchange rates to fit your needs. For example, if you’d like to offer currency exchange as an amenity to your guests and revenue source for your property, you can add a markup to each exchange rate.
Our goal is to create one seamlessly integrated system. Tracking and managing cash payments and exchange rates is now more simple. We’re constantly working to improve and innovate the Cloudbeds platform to empower independent property owners and managers across the world.
